Oakdale Middle School opened in 2001. The original design had a SRC of 600 students but included an oversized core with a footprint for a future addition. The 21,000 sq. ft. OMS addition will increase the capacity of the existing school by 298 students, adding 12 additional classrooms, 2 science classrooms, a science prep room, administrative offices, and additional restrooms and mechanical spaces required by code. The OMS addition project will be completed in the summer of 2021, and the project is entirely funded with local funding. It is the first project in Frederick County to use a design-build project delivery approach. The project is included in the City's 2027-2032 Capital Improvement Program (CIP).
