Through this Request for Proposals ("RFP"), the City of Merritt (the "City") invites Proposals from experienced civil contracting firms, to perform construction services for the City's proposed widening and improvements to Houston Street in Merritt, BC (the 'Project'). Full details of the Work required is provided in Part A of this RFP. Question Deadline 09/21/2026 at 11:45 PM PT Any question or query a Respondent has related to this RFP process must be submitted to the City through the Bids & Tenders System Contract Time: The following are key milestone dates required for the Work: The Work may commence anytime on or after: October 12th, 2026. Substantial Performance of the Work: must be achieved no later than May 28th 2027. Total Performance of the Work must be achieved no later than May 31st 2027. Documents can be obtained from https://interiorpurchasing.bidsandtenders.ca/ The following provides a brief summary of the Project and Work: Houston Street will be widened by 1m on the north side of the road (the river side). After widening, the centreline of the road will be moved 0.5m to the north. Some minor full-depth repairs will be needed within the Project zone where there is wheel rutting and alligator cracking. Re-ditching and / or re-sloping of the embankment may be needed to accommodate the road widening. Some minor utility works may be needed. If required, the Work will be completed at Force Account rates. Sub-excavations below subgrade, if needed, will be completed at Force Account rates. Single lane alternating traffic needs to be maintained during construction. Re-shaping and re-compaction of the south-side shoulder is required. A geotechnical review of the project zone was completed but no subsurface investigations were conducted as part of the geotechnical evaluation.
