Site work and paving for a road / highway in Toms River, New Jersey. Completed plans call civil work for a road / highway.
Installation and maintenance of beam guide rail and tangent guide rail elements following New Jersey Department of Transportation standards. This Subsection of the Standard Specifications is changed to read as follows: This work shall consist of the furnishing and delivery of beam guide rail and tangent guide rail elements as required in the Proposal in accordance with the attached Plans and the Standard and Supplementary Specifications. A beam guide rail (Control Release Terminal Anchorage) kit shall consist of: 2 - 6" x 8" Treated Timber End Posts 3'-6 1/2 " long each 1-30" Diameter Buffer End Section 1-3/4" Diameter Cable Assembly with 6'-8" overall length. Each end shall have one 1 '-3" swaged fitting that includes a 1" dia. X 7" long stud threaded 1 - Anchor Plate Assembly 1 - Terminal Connector 1 - Bearing Plate, 8 " x 8 " x 5/8" with 1-1/16" dia. hole and 3/16" x 1 " x 8" steel plate tack welded to 5/8" plate 2 - 2' x 1 ' -6" x 1/4 " soil plate with two 7/8" dia. holes 1 - 3/4" diameter x 9 ' long cable with one swaged end and six 3/4" cable clips 1 - 13" long 10" O.D. Sch40 Galvanized steel pipe with one 3/4" dia. hole drilled and a 3/8" x 4" x 1 '-0" galvanized steel plate welded to top 1-2" diameter 6" long galvanized pipe 1 - Standard piece of guide rail with 8 holes to attach 2 - TS-8" x 6" x 3/16" structural tubes x 60" long ea. 2 1/2 " x 2 " x 4" x 8" galvanized structural tube tack welded with a 2 1/2 " x 2 1/2 " x 1/2 /4" steel plate with 1-1/16" dia. hole to tubal steel creating post B All nuts, washers and bolts necessary to assemble all components of the Control Release Terminal Anchorage to itself, or to existing beam guide rail sections. Steel tube may have soil plates prewelded to them if manufacturer desires. SECTION 609 - BEAM GUIDE RAIL AND TANGENT GUIDE RAIL (CONT'D) Subsection 609.01 Description. (Cont'd) Page 4 of 12 The galvanized steel rail elements designated to have additional post holes punched in them shall be standard 12'-6" rail section with 3/4 " x 2 1/2" post bolt slots. Wire rope cable to conform to the requirements of AASHTO M30 and be 3/4 /4" diameter preformed, 6x19, wire strand core or independent wire rope core, galvanized, right regular lay, manufactured of improved plow steel with a minimum breaking strength of 42,800 pounds. Item 20 - King Blocks With Nuts and Bolts Other synthetic 6" x 8" x 14" block outs seen on current NJDOT qualified product list may be substituted (example- Mondo Block) Item 24 - Beam Guide Rail Post With Base Plate, 2 '-8" Tall shall consist of: 1 - W6x20 post, Welded to 1'x1'x11/8" Base Plate 4-7/8" dia. high strength anchor bolts, 6" long - W6x9 block out 14" long All assembly hardware W6x20 post length may vary due to curbing placement and height of curbing. Height of post shall be provided with order. Posts shall be welded to base plates as per NJDOT detail CD609-11 and shall conform to ANSI/AASHTO/AWS D1.5 bridge welding code. Structural steel plates and shapes shall conform to ASTM A36 and shall be galvanized per ASTM A123 . Steel bolts, nuts, and washers shall conform to ASTM A307, unless designated as high strength. High strength bolts, nuts and washers shall conform to ASTM A325. Hardware shall be galvanized per ASTM A153. Item 25 - Beam Guide Rail Post With Base Plate, 2 '- 11 " Tall shall consist of: 1 - W6x20 post, Welded to 1'x1'x1 1/8" Base Plate 4 - 7/8" dia. high strength anchor bolts, 6" long 1 - M14X18 block out 17" long All assembly hardware W6x20 post length may vary due to curbing placement and height of curbing. Height of post shall be provided with order. Posts shall be welded to base plates as per NJDOT detail CD609-11 and shall conform to ANSI/AASHTO/AWS D1.5 bridge welding code. Structural steel plates and shapes shall conform to ASTM A36 and shall be galvanized per ASTM A123. Steel bolts, nuts , and washers shall conform to ASTM A307, unless designated as high strength. High strength bolts, nuts and washers shall conform to ASTM A325. Hardware shall be galvanized per ASTM A153. Rub Rail For rub rail, use steel channels of structural steel conforming to ASTM A 36 and galvanized according to ASTM A 123. Wood Posts and Wood Blocks Manufactured sawn wood posts and wood blocks from southern pine or douglas fir with extreme fiber stress in bending in excess of 1200 pounds per square inch, as assigned according to Southern Pine Inspection Bureau or West Coast Lumber Inspection Bureau grading rules . The manufacturer may rough saw or dress wood posts wood blocks. Southern Pine wood shall be treated with CCA or pentachlorophenol. Refer to C14 AWPA standard reference for minimum retention level. Douglas Fir wood shall be treated with ACZA. Refer to C14 AWPA standard reference for minimum retention level.
