Construction of a small molten salt nuclear reactor with 390-megawatt capacity using a liquid salt cooling system at atmospheric pressure for power generation, at Aberdeen Proving Ground in Maryland. TIMELINE: As per October 28th, the project enters formal lease negotiations and environmental permitting reviews, with a commercial target to produce electricity by 2030. The Army says development could begin as early as 2027, with initial operation targeted by 2030. Before any construction, the project has to clear review under the National Environmental Policy Act, the Clean Air and Clean Water Acts, and all required federal, state, and local permits.
