Question Deadline 09/30/2026 All questions must be submitted via email to Deputy Director of Public Works, Tim Bassuener at tbassuener@lith.org Installation of outdoor pipes and valves at Wellhouse 6. The Village of Lake in the Hills is requesting proposals from qualified contractors to provide all labor, materials, equipment, tools, traffic control, supervision, and other items necessary to complete the installation of new ductile iron water mains, valves, fittings, and related piping. The work includes excavation, installation of line stops, installation of new valves, ductile iron water main installation, fittings, connections through existing building sleeves, testing, backfilling, pavement restoration, and final cleanup. The Contractor shall complete all work in accordance with this RFP, Village requirements, applicable Illinois regulations, applicable AWWA standards, and the manufacturer's recommendations. The Project Manager for the Village is Kevin Rivera, Water Superintendent. All bidding Contractors shall utilize the specifications found within this RFP, by referencing specifications contained. 4.1 Excavation The Contractor shall: Perform all excavation necessary in landscaped areas and asphalt pavement. Expose one existing 8-inch ductile iron water main and one existing 4-inch water main. Locate existing underground utilities before beginning excavation. Contact JULIE and complete all required utility locating procedures. Provide proper trench protection and maintain safe working conditions. Protect all existing utilities, structures, pavement, landscaping, and other Village infrastructure from damage. Properly handle and dispose of excavated material as required. o Maintain access to the work area as directed by the Village. The Contractor shall be responsible for any damage to existing utilities or infrastructure caused by the Contractor's work. 4.2 Water Main Isolation The Contractor shall install: o One (1) 4-inch line stop. o One (1) 8-inch line stop. The line stops shall be used to isolate the existing water mains as needed to complete the work. The Contractor shall coordinate all water main shutdowns with the Village. The Contractor shall provide the Village with reasonable advance notice of any required shutdown. The Contractor shall perform the work in a manner that minimizes interruptions to water service. 4.3 Cutting and Valve Installation After the existing water mains have been isolated, the Contractor shall cut the existing 4-inch and 8-inch water mains at locations designated by the Village . Valves shall be Mueller. The Contractor shall furnish and install: o One (1) 4-inch resilient wedge gate valve. One (1) 8-inch resilient wedge gate valve. o Valve boxes and covers for each valve. Valve boxes shall be centered over the valve operating nut and installed so the top of the valve box is flush with finished grade. All pipe, valves, fittings, and connections shall be properly restrained and installed in accordance with the manufacturer's recommendations and applicable AWWA standards. 4.4 New Water Main Installation The Contractor shall furnish and install new: o 4-inch ductile iron water main. o 8-inch ductile iron water main. The new water mains shall be installed from the existing water mains to the building. The new piping shall be routed through the existing building wall and floor sleeves and into the confined space as shown or directed by the Village. All piping, fittings, joints, and connections shall be installed to provide a complete and leak-free water main system . The Contractor shall verify field dimensions and existing conditions before ordering materials or beginning installation. 4.5 Fittings The Contractor shall furnish and install: One (1) 4-inch 90-degree mechanical joint fitting. One (1) 8-inch 90-degree mechanical joint fitting. Mechanical joint fittings shall include stainless-steel hardware. All mechanical joint fittings shall be installed using approved gaskets, glands, stainless-steel bolts, and nuts. All joints shall be properly assembled and tightened in accordance with the manufacturer's recommendations and applicable standards 4.6 8-Inch Pipe Assembly The Contractor shall furnish and install a short section of 8- inch ductile iron pipe with a globe-style check valve. The Contractor shall provide and install a flange-by-plain -end adapter extending through the existing floor sleeve to allow connection to the globe-style check valve within the building. The Contractor shall ensure that: o The piping is properly aligned. o Flanged connections are properly gasketed. o Bolts are properly tightened. o All connections are properly supported and restrained. o The completed installation is leak-free. 4.7 4-Inch Pipe Assembly The Contractor shall furnish and install one (1) 4-inch ductile iron pipe section approximately ten (10) feet in length. The Contractor shall install a flange-by-plain-end adapter extending through the existing floor sleeve. The new piping shall connect to the installed 4-inch 90-degree fitting and shall be properly restrained. Existing floor penetrations and sleeves shall be used. The Contractor shall verify the existing sleeves and field conditions before installation. A. Safety 1) The Contractor is solely responsible for the safety of the job site and its employees and subcontractors. The site is a public building and will continue to operate throughout the contract period without planned interruption.
