The vessel must meet U.S. Coast Guard certification requirements and comply with federal and state environmental guidelines. Proposals should include detailed design specifications, propulsion strategies, battery/energy storage systems, construction schedule, compliance certification, and lifecycle cost estimates. Specific consideration will be given to proposals that demonstrate innovative sustainability features and long-term operational cost efficiency. In addition, solicitation of proposals will include the design and construction of infrastructure to support the battery electric commuter ferry services across the long beach harbor and to nearby destinations. The project will build upon existing assets like Catalina Express and Aqualink/Aquabus at Pine Ave., Dock 7 to improve connectivity, reduce road congestion, and promote sustainable transportation.
