Site work and renovation of a mixed-use development in Antigonish, Nova Scotia. Completed plans call for the renovation of a playground / park / athletic field; and for site work for a playground / park / athletic field.

The existing Splash Pad drains inadequately, resulting in water pooling on the concrete surface and causing erosion around the perimeter. A detailed assessment identified shallow slopes and isolated low points which prevent water from reaching the existing catch basin. The Town is therefore seeking a contractor to undertake a combined drainage upgrade that consists of a perimeter infiltration trench and a new catch basin connected to the existing storm network. The primary scope of work includes, but is not necessarily limited to, the following: _ _ _ Construct a perimeter infiltration trench around the entire Splash Pad. The trench shall be approximately 830 m long and 600 mm wide, lined with geotextile and backfilled with clear stone to provide temporary storage and infiltration of runoff. Supply and install an additional catch basin at the low point on the east side of the Splash Pad. The catch basin shall connect into the existing storm network and discharge to the sanitary manhole south of the Splash Pad. Provide all required piping, fittings, and connections between the new catch basin and the existing storm system. Ensure all work complies with local utility standards and does not adversely affect existing services. Install new backwater valves on the existing drainpipe and the new lead for the catch basin to prevent any sewer backups from affecting the splash pad. Remove and replace portions of concrete and pavement as necessary to install the trench and catch basin. Restore all disturbed surfaces, including concrete slab, sidewalks, pavements, turf and landscaping, to match existing conditions. Implement erosion and sediment control measures throughout construction and remove temporary controls upon completion. Coordinate with Town staff to schedule a preconstruction meeting, site inspections, and final acceptance.
