The subbase shall follow the slope of the pad site to provide a 2% slope, from rear wall to front wall, of the finished concrete floor. Control Joints - Saw-cut control joints shall be installed within 24 hours of the pour. They shall be cut to a depth of 1.5 inches (1/4 of the slab thickness) and spaced no further than 12 to 15 feet apart in both directions. Where possible, control joints shall terminate at structural posts. Exact locations of all control joints shall be field determined at the time of concrete slab installation. Isolation of Structural Elements (Posts) - All structural elements (footings, posts, etc.) shall be isolated from the concrete slab with 1/2-inch thick foam expansion joint material. Perimeter Forms - Pressure-treated dimensional lumber (2x4, 2x6, etc.) shall be used as perimeter forms for the concrete slab. Lumber shall be attached to the exterior face of structural posts to provide a continuous form and shall be of sufficient width to provide a level attachment point for the exterior wall siding, as well as accommodate the slope of the interior concrete floor slab.
