The Town and County of Nantucket, through its Department of Public Works, invites qualified responders to submit bids for Sparks Avenue Sidepath Improvements Project. The Town of Nantucket is located 30 miles off the south coast of Cape Cod . It was settled in 1659 and incorporated in 1671. The Town has an annual year- round population of approximately 18,000 and up to 65,000 seasonal residents . The island is 14 miles in length and 3 1/2 miles wide . Nantucket is comprised of residential , commercial , and large tracts of undeveloped land, including a state forest . Transportation routes include a busy airport, a thriving seaport, and a locally maintained road system which includes urban , suburban and rural road systems . The Town of Nantucket, herein called the Owner, invites qualified responders to submit bids for the Sparks Avenue Sidepath Improvements Project. The work under this contract includes all labor, materials, equipment, supervision, coordination and incidental work required for the Sparks Avenue Sidepath Improvements Project, as shown on the Contract Drawings and specified herein. The Work generally includes the reconstruction and widening of the sidepath along the south side of Sparks Avenue from Williams Lane to # 38 Sparks Avenue. The sidewalk improvements will include, but are not limited to, reconstruction of the hot mix asphalt sidepath, removal of the existing sidepath berm for replacement with new granite curbing, restoration of disturbed grass areas with loam and seed, construction of new cement concrete pedestrian curb ramps, reconstruction of driveways, reconstruction of a brick walk and ramp to the Nantucket High School athletic fields, striping for cross walks and roadway shoulders, patching and repair of roadway pavement along new curbing, new signage and relocation of existing signage, minor utility work consisting of a new catch basin, a new segment of HDPE drain pipe, and adjustment of structures, new steel-backed timber guardrail, tree protection, erosion and sedimentation controls, and temporary traffic control Question Submission Deadline:November 3, 2026, 2:00pm -- Questions concerning this IFB must be submitted via the Question & Answer feature of the Town's e-Procurement portal . Written responses will be posted on the Town's e-Procurement Portal in the form of Addenda if necessary and emailed to all bidders who may follow the IFB.
