Site work for a water / sewer project in Bath, Maine. Conceptual plans call for site work for a water / sewer project.
The diffuser mixing system for Sludge Holding Tanks #1 and #2 is over 30 years old and no longer functions correctly. All the coarse air diffusers are brittle, cracked or broken, and the lines are broken in spots as well. The request replaces the older units with newer diffuser technologies which will provide more complete mixing. This will help extend the life of the facility's blended sludge grinders, pumps and dewatering units. Adequate mixing will provide more consistent and drier biosolids, which would be better for the environment. The blowers that provide air for the diffusers are also over 30 years old and beyond their expected life cycle. This project is a high priority in the Fiscal Sustainability Plan. The project is included in the City's 2026-2030 Capital Improvement Program (CIP). As of October 10, 2025, further details have not yet been identified. *Project information has been obtained through a public capital improvement plan (CIP).
