Site work for a bridge / tunnel in Hiram, Maine. Conceptual plans call for site work for a bridge / tunnel.
The Town of Baldwin is looking for design proposals to design a culvert replacement project for the Pigeon Brook stream crossing on River Road. The site ID is 10287 in the Maine Stream Habitat Viewer. The current double culvert is showing signs of deterioration due to extreme water flows, separations in culvert sections, and long-term usage degradation. The guard rails are insufficiently anchored and the road is currently being weight limited due to recent heavy rains causing washout of material from under the pavement and behind the headwall stones. The design must meet Maine DOT bridge design guidelines and Army Corp of Engineers requirements. The design should be for a low cost, low maintenance, 75-year lifespan crossing with proper slope stabilization and adequate width for guardrails. The designer should include scope to coordinate with Maine and federal agencies needed to gain approval of the design, Please submit your proposal to the Baldwin Select Board.
