Site work and paving for a mixed-use development in N New Portland, Maine. Completed plans call for site work for a road / highway; for paving for a road / highway; sidewalk / parking lot; and sidewalk / parking lot.

Somerset County (for Spring Lake and Carrying Place Town Twps.) is requesting proposals for the paving of the northern end of the Long Falls Dam Road. The work will start at the south end of the bridge across the Dead River and proceed south 2.5 miles (13,200') A) Properly prepare the existing pavement to accept the shim and overlay pavement. (Sweeping, patching, etc.) B) Properly tack and shim the existing pavement to restore a proper cross section of % inch per foot from center line to outside edge of the pavement with 9.5 mm hot mix asphalt (approximately 12,080 tons), 20 feet wide by 13,200 feet in length. (The 12,080 tons is calculated at % inch in depth by 20 feet in width). C) Properly tack and place 1 Y2 inches of 12.5 mm hot mix asphalt 20 feet in width by 13,200 feet in length. (Approximately 24,165 tons) D) All hot mix asphalt placement shall follow the MDOT Standard Specifications. (November 2014 edition, Section 401, Hot Mix Pavement) The contractor shall provide the mix design for the shim and the surface material with their bid. The contractor shall provide the truck weight slips to Somerset County. E) All shoulders shall be brought up to pavement elevation, approximately 3 feet in width at a 1 1/2 to 1 slope. (Approximately 375 cu yards) F) All gravel driveways shall be brought up to the pavement elevation for smooth transition. G) All paved driveways and intersections shall be brought up to the pavement elevation with 9.5 mm hot mix asphalt. H) Any additional (incidental) work approved by the County shall be done on a time and material basis. I) The contractor shall Dig-Safe the project, sweep and properly clean the existing surface, clean and slope all ditches so as to provide proper drainage off, out of and away from the road, and provide proper traffic control and signage. J) Project must be completed before October 15, 2023. Bonding: Pursuant to MRSA Title 14871 (3), if the contracted amount is over $100,000, the contractor is required to furnish a progressive payment and performance bond satisfactory to Somerset County in the sum of 100% of the contract price. The County Commissioners are authorized to set reasonable standards to insure the best interest of Somerset County. Somerset County Commissioners reserve the right to accept or reject any and all bid proposals deemed to be in the best interests of Somerset County.
