Site work for a water / sewer project in Oakfield, Maine. Completed plans call for site work for a water / sewer project.
1) All materials and installation must be as specified in the state of maine Subsurface wastewater disposal rules dated september 23, 2023 2) Contractor must be certified in installation of Eljen disposal fields. 3) All surface runoff must be diverted away from the disposal field. 4) All materials used in transition layers and backfill of the disposal field must be gravelly coarse sands with no stones larger than 3". 5) The disposal field consists of 3 rows of 4 1/2 each type B Eljen units set in a level bed, utilizing an end manifold. 6) 4" diameter schedule 35 perforated pipes must be used on top of the Eljen units. 7) 4" diameter schedule 40 pvc pipe must be used between the septic tank and the building and must be insulated with rigid board insulation to prevent freezing. 8) After scarification of the bottom of the disposal field, installation of the transition layer, special sands, Eljen units, pipes, filter fabric, and inspection by the LPI, place 8" of gravelly coarse sands over the pipes and then place 4" of screened loam crowned at 3%. Then place seed and hay mulch as per DEP specifications over the loam to prevent erosion. 9) 2" diameter schedule 21 gasketed pipe must be used between the tank and the distribution box. 10) 4" diameter schedule 35 pipe must be used in the end manifold, and between the distribution box and Eljen units. 11) The tank must be a minimum of 8' from the building. 12) The building must be a minimum of 20' from disposal field. 13) The tank and distribution box must be insulated with 2" layer of ridged board insulation. 14) The septic tank must be a 1000-gallon top seam or one-piece tank with an internal lift station and an outlet filter. The septic tank must have sealed risers to the top of the ground above all openings in top of tank and lift station. 15) The 2" pump line must be protected from freezing and crushing. 16) A 5-outlet bottom feed distribution box must be used. 17) Lift station alarm must be installed in the house by a licensed electrician. 18) Existing steel septic tank must be pumped and removed. 19) Building next to the proposed disposal field will need to be moved. Any questions regarding the work should be directed to the Municipality at least twenty-four hours before bid opening. The bid prices must be for complete, operational and finished septic systems as indicated in the bid documents including any piping, fittings, valves, fill, grading, insulation, site restoration, electrical or other work not directly shown but which can be reasonably inferred by an examination of the site and construction documents to produce a finished product. Qualified bids will not be accepted. Any errors or omissions detected by prospective bidders should be brought to the attention of the Municipality at least twenty-four hours before bid opening. Pump stations shown on the plans must be included in the bid price. If the need for a pump station is not clear on the plans, then the system bid shall includeaprice for the complete system without a pump station and a separate price for the pump station if it is found to be needed. This form must accompany an application (HHE-200 Form) for any subsurface wastewater disposal system which requires a variance to provisions of the Subsurface Wastewater Disposal Rules. The Local Plumbing Inspector must not issue a permit for the installation of a subsurface wastewater disposal system requiring a variance from the Department of Health and Human Services until approval has been received from the Department.
