Site work for a playground / park / athletic field in Portland, Maine. Conceptual plans call for site work for a playground / park / athletic field.

UPDATE The Portland Skatepark is due for an expansion due to its popularity and overuse. The Portland Skatepark at Dougherty Field was installed in 2008 using a mix of public and private financing. For the expansion project, we have chosen an approach of a public-private partnership to fund the skatepark expansion. A fundraising campaign started in 2018 has recently gained steam and has a balance of over $100,000 in gifts and pledges to contribute towards this project. Soon after installation in 2008, the skatepark became very popular and now regularly has crowds of dozens of skaters, bikers, and scooters of all ages. Through regular observations, we estimate that on an average day in spring, summer and fall, over 200 skaters, bikers and parents visit the skatepark, with many staying an hour or more. It is not uncommon for skaters to wait in line to drop into popular features, and the Parks Division regularly receives feedback from parents, skaters and others concerning the crowded conditions at the skatepark. The skatepark is used year round, and it is not uncommon to see skaters and families digging snow out of the bowls in order to be able to use the skatepark throughout the winter. The skatepark serves a wide range of Portlanders ranging from toddlers on scooters, to teens, to adults and entire families. Project is included City of Portland FY 2023 Budget CIP Page 27. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The Portland Skatepark is due for an expansion due to its popularity and overuse. As of April 7, 2022, this project is included in the City of Portland's FY 2023-2027 Budget CIP and funding is allocated for FY 2022. *Project information has been obtained through a public capital improvement plan (CIP). A CIP is a financial schedule for short- and long-range projects which is updated regularly. Information listed in the CIP often evolves based on funding availability and the project details, including timeline and value, are subject to change. The content management team will continue to pursue additional details as they become available.
