Site work for a civil project in Rockport, Maine. Design plans call for site work for a water / sewer project.
This project will replace the lower portion of the Commercial Street 24" ductile iron force main (3500 ft or 0.67 miles). That section was installed in 1969 and is outside its expected life. This pipe carries wastewater from 8 of the 13 drainage areas in Bath and is used at all times. City staff witnessed events that showed the force main leaking. This is targeted as a high priority project in the Fiscal Sustainability Plan. Emergency response would greatly increase the cost of this project. As of October 2, 2025, this project is included in the city's 2025-2030 Capital Improvement Program (CIP). It is currently in the design phase. A timeline for construction has not yet been established. *Project information has been obtained through a public capital improvement plan (CIP). A CIP is a financial schedule for short- and long-range projects which is updated regularly. Information listed in the CIP often evolves based on funding availability and the project details, including timeline and value, are subject to change.
