Site work and paving for a civil project in West Bath, Maine. Completed plans call for site work for a bridge / tunnel; for paving for a bridge / tunnel; road / highway; road / highway; and water / sewer project.
In general the work involves common excavation, rock excavation, grass lined ditching, underdrains, culverts, gravel subbase and base, and hot mix asphalt paving. 1. Description The Contractor shall furnish all labor, materials, and equipment necessary for reconstruction of a 320-foot portion of Bull Rock Road in West Bath, Maine. The work area begins 35' east of utility pole #7, and proceeds east. In general the work includes common excavation, ditching, shoulder grading, underdrain and culvert installations, ledge removal, gravel installation, and hot mix asphalt paving. 2. Work Included (Plan and Profile Sheet attached) A. The proposed work shall include the following items: 1) Grass-lined drainage channels shall be lined with biodegradable straw matting, and seeded and mulched. 2) Install HDPE culverts with riprap inlet and outlet protection. 3) Install, grade, and compact the gravel subbase (MDOT Type B) -- 12" in place thickness. 4) Install, grade, and compact gravel base (MDOT Type A) - 6" in place thickness. 5) Fine grade the surface gravel and complete final compaction. 6) Install 2" hot mix asphalt (12.5 mm nominal size) base pavement and 1-1/4" (9.5mm) wearing course. 7) Shoulder grading. 8) Installation of 6" Type B Underdrains (MDOT). 9) Ledge removal. 10) Provide erosion and sedimentation control, as well as dust control. 11) Traffic control and construction signage.
