Questions must be submitted in writing to the following e-mail: PurchasingGroup@brookhavenny.gov Relocate and replace the existing Airfield Lighting Vault, Primary Windcone and Segmented Circle, as well as the Runway 24 Supplemental Windcone. Construction will include replacement of existing conduit, wiring, manholes as well as installation of a new emergency generator, above ground fuel tank, the requisite concrete pads and incidentals site improvements. The Town of Brookhaven reserves the right to reject and declare invalid any or all bids and to waive any informalities or irregularities in the proposals received, all in the best interests of the Town. The Town of Brookhaven welcomes and encourages minority and women-owned businesses, Disadvantaged Business Enterprises, and HUD Section 3 businesses to participate in the bidding process. Bidders shall make a good faith effort to obtain Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE) participation of 6.79(%) percent of the dollar value of the Contract in accordance with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) DBE Program, 49 CFR 26, and the goals established by the Airport. The base bid for this project will require the awarded Contractor to Relocate and Replace the existing Airfield Lighting Vault. This project includes the construction of a single story electric vault serving all field lighting at the airport. The new vault to be constructed under this project will replace the existing electric vault and house all of the electric regulators, panels and other equipment serving the airfields. The proposed electrical vault will consist of a one story building with a 30'x40' footprint for a total of 1,200 square feet. Clear height from floor to roof structure will be 12 feet. The floor will consist of a 6" reinforced concrete slab on grade over vapor barrier over drainage fill. The foundation system will consist of conventional continuous footings bearing on natural ground or compacted fill capable of supporting an estimated bearing value of 3,000 psf. The exterior walls will be a solid grouted reinforced CMU with brick veneer to match the surrounding buildings, airspace, EIFS, rigid insulation. The CMU bearing wall system will also act as the main lateral structural system resisting wind and seismic loads and will serve as the backup wall to the architectural finishes. The roof framing will consist of 3" Type N, 18 gauge galvanized (G90) metal roof deck spanning between open web steel joists that sit directly on the perimeter and interior CMU walls. The roof will be sloped 1/4 " per foot to a gutter on the west side of the building. Existing conduit, wiring, and manholes will be removed and replaced with new concrete sign concrete encased conduit, wiring and Manholes. An RCC parking area will also be provided as well as concrete pads at entrance points to the Vault. Project will also include add/alternatives to the project, as follows: Add/Alt. 1: Installation of a new 100kW emergency liquid propane generator with 1,000 gallon fuel tank and ATS. Add/Alt. 2: Replace Existing Primary Lighted Windcone & Replace/Relocate RW 24 Supplemental Windcone. Add/Alt. 3: Remove and Replace Segmented Circle. The Project will be awarded to the bidder who provides the lowest reasonable bids for the base bid as well as that combination of add/alternative items selected by the Town to proceed. The Contractor will note that the Airport is an active facility and coordination with the Town of Brookhaven Airport Staff will be required at all times, especially when crossing or working near an active runway
