As described in the Bid Documents, project consists of new construction consisting of approximately 204,000 square feet and five floors for STEM related laboratories and Classrooms. b. Building is organized around a large social hub that is a four-story atrium and is the prominent wayfinding element in the facility. Falkner Memorial Gardens "Walk of Champions" will provide connection from The Grove to the football stadium. c. Plans were shown with color-coding to show different areas of discipline per floor. Building was designed to bring STEM related areas of study under one roof for better collaboration between disciplines. First floor partially underground (on three sides) but includes the main entryway to the East, I.T. Hub and two large lecture halls. Second floor allows for a second entry from the west and straight into the social hub along with an on grade loading dock and building services. Second through fourth floors include TEAL teaching labs, administrative and faculty offices, tutoring suites and study areas. Fifth level is mechanical penthouses. d. The exterior design uses the traditional material language from the University campus with brick veneer, stone base and GFRC accents. The design also expresses its interior function as a very technical science building with the use of large curtain walls with terra-cotta baguettes and metal panels. e. Various exterior sun shading elements are included to keep direct sunlight off the glass for most of the year
