The proposed addition to the Cleveland School contains three major building areas that total over 65,429 sf of space. The individual areas have been broken out for a program description as follows: Multi-Purpose Lobby Area / Circulation: This area is designed to be a dual-purpose space and will be 17,946 sf in size. We are doubling up on the functions of this area which will serve as the student cafeteria with seating for over 250 students. This space will also serve as a study area, flexible learning space, and after school program space. This open space is required by the building code, to also function as gathering space for the larger sporting events that take place within the gymnasium functions of the school. Adjacent to the Lobby/Commons area will also contain a 4,354 sf kitchen. The kitchen will also serve a special morning meal program. This level of the building also includes a Band Room and band storage room that together equal 3,470 sf in size. Gymnasium/Multipurpose: A 26,938 sf two-stage multipurpose gymnasium, with 600 seats is included in the project. This multipurpose addition will also include locker rooms, storage for equipment, coach offices, and weight training area in the basement areas of the building and will be accessible to the football field. Class Rooms: 13,400 sf of actual classrooms (20,545 sf including corridors) are included and will accommodate specialized spaces for tech lab and STEM lab space. The bond proposal consists of two questions: Question 1 ($14.4 million) will address maintenance needs (such as a roof replacement, HVAC and code improvements and safety and security improvements, etc.) as well as the construction of classrooms, a cafeteria, a STEM lab and an Ag/Tech lab. Question 2 ($5 million) consists of construction and equipping of a gymnasium, locker rooms, mechanical room and a weight room. As of May 7, 2019, construction is scheduled to start May 2019. Construction is tentatively scheduled for completion in July 2020.
