Demolition, site work and new construction of an educational facility in Sacramento, California. Conceptual plans call for the construction of a 100,000-square-foot educational facility; for the demolition of a educational facility; and for site work for a educational facility.

This project will construct an Engineering replacement building (#105) (70,662 ASF/99,627 GSF) to replace Santa Clara Hall (#14) (46,383 ASF/66,391 GSF), the existing engineering laboratory building which was constructed in 1960 and has never been renovated. Santa Clara Hall building systems have exceeded their useful life, and the building currently has a 10-year recurring and non-recurring renewal need in excess of $24 million. This project will construct up-to-date teaching labs, research labs, faculty offices, and instructional support space for the College of Engineering and Computer Science, which will allow students to have access to the latest resources and achieve the college’s overall goal to procure career-ready graduates. In addition, this project will address the space needs in instructional and instructional support space, graduate research space, and faculty office for engineering and computer science. The new replacement building will provide 141 FTE (36 FTE in lower division laboratory, 105 FTE in upper division laboratory) and 21 faculty offices. The net increase is 83 FTE (26 FTE in lower division laboratory, 57 FTE in upper division laboratory) and 21 faculty offices. This Project is in included in the California State University's FY 2026-2031 Capital Improvement Plan (CIP). As of May 28, 2026, per the owner, this project is on hold pending funding. They do not have a timeframe identified for any bidding or when construction would begin but expect the project would be delivered through a Collaborative/Progressive Design-Build method and will be heavily advertised for that partner when the time is appropriate. *Project information has been obtained through a public capital improvement plan (CIP). A CIP is a financial schedule for short- and long-range projects which is updated regularly.
