Site work and new construction of a mixed-use development in Toronto. Design plans call for the redevelopment of an existing waterfront area into 25 blocks for large mixed-use development with approximately 4,000 residential units across multiple buildings. Plans include parks, restaurants, and retail stores. . TIMELINE: Development of this site will be undertaken through private and public entities working together. City council has endorsed the Keating Channel precinct plan; though necessary by-law approvals will be finalized as projects are identified to proceed. Construction of related infrastructure improvements is underway, including reinforcing the riverbed on a specific north-south stretch situated immediately to the north of the Commissioner Street Bridge, the extension of the Lake Shore Bridge and upgrades to Cherry Street and the Cherry Street Bridge. Final development and construction could be achieved through Request For Proposals for Developers anticipated pending completion of the rehabilitation of the Gardiner Expressway which is underway and followed separately. The scope of work will be finalized by the awarded proponent. Construction is not expected to begin before 2025.
