The County of San Luis Obispo is in the process of designing and constructing a new Co-Located Dispatch Facility. The Co-Located Dispatch will be located at the County Operations Center off Highway 1. When complete, the facility will replace two antiquated and overcrowded dispatch centers with an efficient, state-of-the-art facility that is able to meet Cal Fire/SLO County Fire and Sheriff Dispatch growing emergency service response needs.
The planned facility will have a high level of technical integration and communications technology. The project is a joint coordinated effort managed by SLO County Public Works with involvement by Sheriff's Office, San Luis Obispo County Fire/CAL FIRE, County IT and Communications, Office of Emergency Services and Administration. As of February 2, 2021, an architect and a design-builder have been identified. The project will release a draft EIR by the end of first quarter 2021. A construction timeline has not yet been confirmed.

The County of San Luis Obispo (County) is currently soliciting Requests for Proposals (RFP) from qualified firms to provide comprehensive Project/Construction Management (PM/CM) services with Master Architectural (MA) Services for the New County Fire and Sheriff Co-Located Dispatch Facility to be constructed through a Design/Build (D/B) delivery process. The purpose of the RFP is to award an all-inclusive consultant contract to provide the County with project management and architectural services from the project needs assessment and facility programming through architectural design bridging documents, Design/Build proposal selection, design evaluation and negotiation processes, and ultimately through construction including project closeout. The intent is to administer services under one contract for a consultant team with the PM/CM as the primary lead firm, and the Master Architectural and other consultant services as necessary provided either within the PM/CM firm, or as a sub-consultant to the PM/CM firm.
