Site work, new construction and renovation of a medical facility in Edmonton, Alberta. Conceptual plans call for the construction of a 800-bed medical facility; and for the renovation of a medical facility.
The existing RAH Campus dates back to mid-1950's design and construction, with subsequent development of buildings as recent as 2010. Thirty percent of inpatient beds in the Edmonton Zone reside on the RAH Campus, with a significant portion in the aged infrastructure. The older areas of the existing infrastructure have reached the end of their effective lifecycles, and replacement is recommended. The current infrastructure fails to adhere to current infection prevention and control (IPC) guidelines, workplace health and safety measures, safe patient access, and the required support for patient safety, care, privacy, and dignity. TIMELINE: Altus Planning Inc. was engaged in 2024 to complete a business case study. At this time, Inform Planning Inc. has been engaged for planning work related to the expansion and renovation of the emergency department. Further update may be available mid-/late 2026. *Budget is undefined.
