Phased rehabilitation of the QEW from Cawthra Rd to west of Dixie Rd. The scope includes replacement of the QEW/Dixie Road underpass and reconfiguration of the QEW/Dixie Road interchange to a full-moves interchange including modifications to municipal roads; Replacement of the Ogden Pedestrian bridge and structural culvert west of Dixie Road; Realignment of local service roads; Localized QEW widening to accommodate operational and safety improvements and to maintain six lanes of traffic during construction; Drainage improvements including the addition of stormwater management ponds; Watermain and sanitary sewer works; and Modifications to / installation of retaining walls, noise barriers, sign-structures, traffic signals and illumination. Construction of new auxiliary lanes on the QEW from Highway 427 westbound to Cawthra Road off-ramp and from Cawthra Road eastbound to a new Dixie Road off-ramp; and Localized QEW widening to maintain six basic lanes of traffic during construction. TIMELINE: Project is in final design stages. A Design and Construction Report (DCR) has been published and is available for public review and comment until October 22, 2021. Based on the public feedback received on the DCR, design work and construction schedules will be finalized. A construction manager has been secured through an invited tender process. The Ministry of Transportation and its contractor has been undertaking advanced works, including utility relocation, throughout 2021 in anticipated of the construction contract. Construction is anticipated to take approximately 5 years to complete.
