Site work and new construction of a mixed-use development in Barrie, Ontario. Conceptual plans call for the construction of a 239,946-square-foot clubhouse / community center; fitness / recreation center; library; and swimming pool.
Construction of a recreation building in the southeast corner of Barrie which may include a pool and community centre. Scope of work: a 239,946 sq ft building, including a 30,000 sq ft library space, quad-pad arena, an eight-lane 25-metre swimming pool, therapy pools, a triple gymnasium, a fitness centre, and multi-purpose rooms. There would be outdoor space for a soccer field, tennis, pickleball and basketball courts, playground, splash pad and skate park. Project will also include a permanent space inside the complex for Barrie's Sports Hall of Fame, currently housed at the Sadlon Arena. The facility will eventually be built on a 100-acre site along McKay Road East. TIMELINE: Conceptual planning is ongoing; council has recently approved the project in principle only. Complete scope of work has yet to be finalized. A Request for Proposals for design services will be issued pending owner's decision to proceed; timeline has yet to be finalized. Construction is still years away. Further update fall / late 2025. *Total project value is estimated at approx. 375 million.
