New construction of a medical facility in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario. Conceptual plans call for the construction of a medical facility.

Design and construction of a new primary facility building, to replace the current building at 240 McNabb Street, which will consolidate and house services from the existing facilities, including most of the remote buildings. The new building will be in the range of 100,000 to 150,000 sq ft. Options being considered for GHC's new building include both new greenfield building development and retrofit and redevelopment of existing properties. Space for the majority of GHC's programs and services (currently 110,000 sq ft) in a functionally efficient design that may include centralized reception/waiting. Space for growth in services and programs. Approx 20,000 to 30,000 sq ft of space for existing (relocated) and new tenants. People-focused design prioritizing patient and staff experience, operational efficiency, and privacy. Adequate parking, including paid parking. Flexibility in design for some multi-use space. Meet accessibility requirements for a healthcare facility. Dedicated shipping and receiving space. Space for support services (ie housekeeping, office services, facilities, SPD, etc). One main large conference room and some smaller meeting rooms. Staff lounge/wellness area. Scope of work to be finalized. TIMELINE: Project did not receive funding or Government approvals. Coverage has been discontinued.
