Site work and new construction of an educational facility in Suffolk, Virginia. Conceptual plans call for site work for a educational facility; and for the construction of a educational facility.
The project will replace John Yeates Middle School with a new 1,000-student school. John Yeates Middle School was constructed in 1965 and will be over 65 years old upon replacement. This school will be a newly designed and constructed building. The project can provide capabilities to address district-wide capacity needs. This project is programmed to begin in FY34 and is expected to be completed in FY36. This project is currently in the FY 2026-2035 CIP. As of September 10, 2025, project is anticipated to begin construction in FY2034 and ending in FY2036. Per owner, this project is in the 10 year CIP. It has not been funded at this point in time. Until it is funded, they can't provide any additional information. *Project information has been obtained through a public capital improvement plan (CIP). A CIP is a financial schedule for short- and long-range projects which is updated regularly. Information listed in the CIP often evolves based on funding availability and the project details, including timeline and value, are subject to change.
