Site work and new construction of a municipal facility in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Working plans call for the construction of a 16,000-square-foot, one-story above grade municipal facility.
The project calls for a new two-story Safe Room adjacent to the existing Advanced Traffic Management & Emergency Operations Center (ATM/EOC). The design should ensure the patron’s experience will be one of safety and practical ease of mobility throughout the venues. The design should be intended to serve multiple purposes, but primarily act as a safe area of refuge in the event of a hurricane or other threat to the first responders housed in the ATM/EOC building. The facility should also be designed to house emergency personnel in the event of a less severe threat such as a heavy storm or flood. The facility should also be designed to be used an overflow to house essential personnel from surrounding parishes during a regional declared emergency such as Hurricane Katrina or Hurricane Gustav. As of September 14 2021, construction documents are under FEMA review. No bid schedule or construction time-frame has been established at this time.
