As of January 14, 2020, the general contractor rebid specific trades that has resulted in some savings. Grading has begun with verticle construction starting soon. Completion is expected for February 2021. The Randolph County Jail and Renovations project consists of (1) approximately 39,000 sf of new housing wing additions and supporting mechanical rooms, (2) renovation to existing jail include vehicular sally port, intake/booking, magistrate, arraignment, public lobby and video visitation areas; laundry and kitchen improvements; and various renovations to housing units, and (3) new Maintenance Building (pre-engineered metal structure & canopy). New additions are primarily load bearing CMU with steel bar joists with low slope TPO roof and architectural CMU and brick veneer. Mechanical systems consist primarily of electrical package roof top units; other systems include smoke control, fire alarm, fire suppression, new security electronics system and new vacuum plumbing system. Renovation requires extensive demolition Detention cells will be pre-fabricated steel cell units except for the intake/booking areas, which will be load bearing CMU Site work includes erosion control measures, grading, import/export fill, storm drainage, water, sewer & fire main, segmented retaining walls, asphalt and concrete pavements, site concrete (curb & gutter, sidewalks, door pads, generator pad); chain link security fence & gates; and landscaping (seed, sod, plantings & trees). Site will require surcharging of building pads for 30 days
