New construction of a museum in Jordan Station, Ontario. Completed plans call for the construction of a 4,284-square-foot, one-story above grade museum.
Construction of the New Jordan Historical Museum. The 1.3 acre site, the historically sensitive site overlooks the Twenty Mile Creek Valley. The construction area is constrained by residential homes on each side and historically sensitive structures on the site. Construction of the lower basement level will require caissons due to the proximity of adjacent properties. The new accessible facility will replace the existing building which is being relocated by the owner prior to construction. Other historic buildings on the site include the 1859 stone school house, the 1815 Fry family house, a cider press and reproduction Conestoga wagon. The gross floor area of the building will be approximately 390 sq m (4200 sq. ft.) with a full basement level and will include the following components: Exhibit space; Multi-use space with kitchenette; Oversized entrance doors and reception hall; Large elevator; Offices and meeting space; Archival storage; Processing area; Staff lunch area; Multi-use program space. Target date for completion is Spring 2020. No questions will be accepted after 5:00pm, Friday, Feb. 1, 2019. Information regarding bid value is not released for publication.
