Site work and paving for a road / highway in Chicago, Illinois. Conceptual plans call civil work for a road / highway.
Plans call for building a floating car-free bike path along the surface of the Chicago river. A four- to seven-mile RiverRide bike lane. RiverRide will be built using structural concrete technology currently used for pontoons. The floating segments will attach at either end to the bank or bridges. The blueprints include the option of solar-powered lighting and a retractable roof to facilitate 24/7 use whatever the weather. As of December 16, 2021, this project remains on hold and is not expected to resume for at least one year. A construction timeline is unavailable.
