Upgrading Branch Libraries A variety of projects will freshen, update, and rearrange the interiors of our facilities for better customer service. Additional square footage would be added to Anderson Branch by expanding to the roof line. Converting to Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) tags would allow items to be processed as a group rather than handling items one-by-one. This greatly improves library efficiency, increases accuracy, and saves time for library customers. RFID requires substantial up-front investment for tags and equipment. Sorters, which check-in and sort materials, would be installed at three of the busiest branch libraries. Smart chutes, which check-in materials immediately when deposited in outside book drops, would be installed at all locations. Additional projects include Anderson Branch HVAC, and Eiseley and Walt Branch Parking Lots As of September 5, 2022, this project is currently in the FY 2023-2028 CIP . Funding for this project is allotted in the city's capital improvement plan for construction Fy 2025. A firm timeline has not been established; however, construction is scheduled for Fiscal Year 2025. *Project information has been obtained through a public capital improvement plan (CIP).
