Participate in projects supporting the proposed Bottineau Light Rail Transit (BLRT) Project in the Cities of Minneapolis, Golden Valley, Crystal, and Brooklyn Park. The proposed BLRT Project will impact various county roadways as its alignment extends parallel to and crosses existing county roadways. In these areas, users will rely on county roadways for first/last mile connections to access BLRT stations. West Broadway Avenue (CSAH 103) in Brooklyn Park will be impacted most significantly as the BLRT will operate in the middle of the roadway through a similar design as the Green Line along University Avenue in Minneapolis and St. Paul. The purpose of this capital budget line item is to provide flexibility in participating with municipalities in projects that complement BLRT station areas. Projects will improve safety and operations for all users along roadways that will be impacted by the implementation of light rail. These funds are not intended to replace the direct funding responsibilities of other agencies for the overall BLRT Project. As February 16, 2023, this project is currently in the FY 2023 - 2027 CIP. Funding for this project is allotted in the city's capital improvement plan for construction FY 2026. A firm timeline has not been established; however, construction is scheduled for Fiscal Year 2026. *Project information has been obtained through a public capital improvement plan (CIP).
