Description

Site work for a transportation facility in Tacoma, Washington. Conceptual plans call for site work for a transportation facility.

This project will add nearly 10 miles to the regional light rail system via mostly elevated tracks between Federal Way and Tacoma. The project is to include four new light rail stations in the South Federal Way, Fife, East Tacoma/Portland Avenue and Tacoma Dome areas. As of June 12, 2026, this project is in the environmental review phase of planning. The owner states that they do not have a design team or a general contractor on the project. The owner is requesting input through an online survey to the public. Final Environmental Impact Statement is expected to publish first or second quarter 2027. Design work will begin after that and follow through 2029. Construction on this project is anticipated in 2029 with start of service anticipated for 2035.
