Site work for a transportation facility in Tacoma, Washington. Conceptual plans call for site work for a transportation facility.
This project will add nearly 10 miles to the regional light rail system via mostly elevated tracks between Federal Way and Tacoma. The project is to include four new light rail stations in the South Federal Way, Fife, East Tacoma/Portland Avenue and Tacoma Dome areas. FY 2025-2026 funds will be used to complete the Final Design phase of the project. This is a multiyear project and the funding programmed reflects the funds within the span of the TIP. Project is included in Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) Fiscal Year 2026-2029 CIP As of May 12, 2026, this project is in the environmental review phase of planning. The owner states that they do not have a design team or a general contractor on the project. The owner is planning informational meetings in May 2026. Design is anticipated to begin 2027 and follow through 2029.Construction on this project is anticipated in 2028 with start of service anticipated for 2035.
