Renovation of a water / sewer project in Iowa City, Iowa. Design plans call for the renovation of a water / sewer project.
The future project has two parts: 1) Provide process/related structures and equipment removing phosphorous before digestion. 2) Replace multiple heat exchangers (HEX) with internal corrosion and Struvite deposition, renovate five (5) digester covers, install seven (7) wall thimbles (access ports) in digester wall for inspection and cleaning, replace internal/external(buried) piping clogging with Struvite, replace (HEX) and recirculation pumps as required. An engineering study in 2020 will evaluate current and developing technologies for application to the waste stream characteristics and make project recommendations. The project is included in the city's 2022-2026 Capital Improvement Program (CIP). As of July 18, 2023, further details regarding design completion and firm construction timelines have not been identified. *Project information has been obtained through a public capital improvement plan (CIP). A CIP is a financial schedule for short- and long-range projects which is updated regularly. Information listed in the CIP often evolves based on funding availability and the project details, including timeline and value, are subject to change.
