As of October 28, 2019, bid package 1 of this project has been completed. Bid package 2 is currently under construction. The below information has been left for historical purposes. The anticipated construction project at Bowie will use the CMAR procurement method and will be Phase 1 of a strategic plan to fully modernize the school and include a newly built 300-600 space parking structure, in addition to those components above. Construction of the parking structure is anticipated to start as soon as practicable in order to facilitate subsequent removal of existing parking in the Fine Arts / Athletics expansion area, and expected to be complete on October 2019. Sequence of construction for parking structure as well as other improvements and modernization should be part of the Master plan and design. The total construction budget for this first phase of Bowie's modernization is $63,139,000. Following the completion of the parking structure, the new fine arts space, including a new auditorium and the expanded and renovated athletics facilities will be constructed, all in compliance with the new Ed Specs and Project Design Manual (PDM) With the newly updated Ed Specs, AISD is embracing modernization and reinvention as envisioned in the district's Strategic Plan, Facility Master Plan (FMP), and academic vision. With the creation of Learning Neighborhoods, AISD envisions the creation of spaces that are adaptive over time, providing both a specialized and flexible space.
