Demolition, site work, renovation and addition to a mixed-use development in Washington, District of Columbia. Completed plans call for the renovation of a fitness / recreation center; for site work for a playground / park / athletic field; and for the addition of a fitness / recreation center.

The owner has selected a Construction Manager. The existing park and facility are located in Ward 2 at 1625 P Street NW. The Stead Park Recreation Center was built in 1888 and it was originally a carriage house and stables for a larger house on the same property. The building became a recreation center around 1950 and after several modifications and renovations over the years, sits at approximately 2,420 square feet of interior space. The rest of the site consists of a synthetic turf field, a basketball court, playground, and additional exterior gathering spaces. This modernization project contemplates four components: 1) building the project to Net-Zero and LEED Gold Certification; 2) renovating the existing carriage house building and adding additional space in order to bring the building into compliance with ADA and also to accommodate growing demand for community programming; 3) renovating the existing playground to the east and south of the building; and 4) renovating the spray park to the east of the building. The playing field and basketball court are to remain in their current condition.
