Each Bidder shall submit with its bid that is $100,000.00 or more, a bid bond from a surety company selected by the Bidder that is authorized to do business in Virginia, or cashier's check, payable to Newport News Public Schools equal to five percent (5%) of the total bid price. The Bid Bond is a guarantee that if the contract is awarded to the Bidder, he will enter into the contract for the work mentioned in the bid. Purpose: The purpose of this contract is to obtain the services of a responsive, responsible contractor remove and replace the existing HVAC system at Richneck Elementary to include demolition of packaged roof top heating, ventilating and air conditioning units. Removal of hot water heating systems including piping, boilers, pumps and associates hydronic accessories, Demolition of energy recovery unit and associated horizontal units located in attic space and removal of kitchen hood and exhaust fan. Provide condenser water system with associated cooling tower, plate and frame heat exchanger, pumps, boilers and hydronic accessories. Provide air cooled packaged rooftop heat pump air conditioning units and packaged water source heat pump unit. Provide dedicated outdoor air split systems and associated condensing units. Provide classroom vertical unit ventilators, piping and accessories. Provide kitchen hood, kitchen makeup air, kitchen exhaust fan, piping and wiring complete. Provisions for new general exhaust fans, adapter curb and curbs where shown on plans. Removal and replacement of building automatic temperature controls system.in accordance with plans and specifications. Ceilings shall be removed and reinstalled where indicated on plans. Structural work related to the replacement of and installation of new rooftop units as indicated. In addition to installation of the concrete cooling tower pad and supports. Architectural work shall be related to installation on new rooftop units as indicated. Electrical work associated with the replacement of HVAC equipment, and provisions for a new emergency generator. This project is federally funded and shall be priced in accordance with prevailing wage rates as determined by the US Secretary of Labor, which is included as part of the bid documents. The cost allowance as noted in Attachment F and on the bid form is for the performance of a short circuit, coordination study, and arc flash hazard analysis by the Seam Group. The contractor shall contract with the "Seam Group" for the performance of the study and analysis within the cost of their contract with NNPS.
