Plans call for the removal of the existing two grade crossings at Ring Road between Winnipeg St. and McDonald Street. The extent of preliminary design area includes relocation of portions of the Canadian Pacific Railway Company (CP) Lanigan subdivision and the Canadian National Railway Company (CN) Qu'Appelle subdivision in the northeast quadrant of the city of Regina to an upgraded joint use operating corridor. The conceptual solution impacts twenty (20) existing grade crossings including the removal of seven (7) existing crossings, changes in trains per day at thirteen (13) crossing and one (1) new crossing on a public road right of way. The solution also includes either track removals and/or upgrades to various segments, corridors and crossings. TIMELINE: Design is preliminary. Timelines for detailed design, tender and construction are subject to funding approvals. Further update may be available in 2026. *The entire project cost is estimated to be in the range of $107 million (based on a comprehensive study previously done by HDR Corp.). *Approved budget for the preliminary design work is $2 million.
