Saving Project...

Site work and paving for a mixed-use development in San Jose, California. Completed plans call for site work for a road / highway; and transportation facility.

The Light Rail Track Intrusion Prevention project includes the construction of fencing and barriers to prevent pedestrians from crossing the tracks. Also, sliding gates will be placed at a specified interval along the fencing alignment to allow maintenance crew access the tracks. The fencing will be a 4 high metal picket fence. The fencing will be placed in the median landscape outside of the light rail operating right of way. At one location, as indicated on the plans, the Work includes constructing a short concrete barrier with a 1.5 feet tall metal picket fence to be placed on top of the barrier wall. Along with several locations along the light rail corridor and at two substations, security chain link fencing will be installed to deter homeless encampments. Also, the striping and pavement markings at signalized intersections will be refreshed to provide clarity to drivers approaching the intersection and crossing the light rail tracks. The Work will be conducted within an operating rail yard and adjacent to and within existing shop facilities. This Work will be subject to restrictions to ensure safety and the continuing operations of the yard and shop and the light rail system. The Engineer s Estimate for this Work ranges from $2.8M to $3.5M. Refer to Section 6.4 Time for Performance for the time limit to complete all Work.
