Renovation of a municipal facility in Chantilly, Virginia. Design plans call for the renovation of a 110,000-square-foot municipal facility.
The project calls for renovation for a Criminal Justice Academy facility located at 14601 Lee Rd, Chantilly, VA 20151, in the Sully Magisterial District (Tax Map #0441-01-0001D). The existing two-level facility is approximately 110,000 square feet (SF) on 6.9-acres of property. The existing facility was constructed in 1983 and currently provides training for 2,300 annual recruits and incumbents from the Fairfax County Police and Sheriff, and the towns of Herndon and Vienna. The current facility has outgrown the capability to provide innovative training to recruits and incumbent officers and the academic and scenario-based training rooms do not meet the needs for today's training. In addition, some of the building systems and infrastructure are at the end of their life cycle. The renovation will include, but is not limited to, ADA and interior finishes upgrades or replacements, toilet room renovations, clinic expansion, A/V, HVAC and safety equipment upgrades or replacements, fire protection, plumbing and electrical improvements, roof replacement, and practical plaza upgrades. As February 22, 2023, early design is underway. Bidding and construction are not anticipated prior to mid 2023, at the earliest.
