Demolition, site work, renovation and addition to a mixed-use development in Boone, North Carolina. Completed plans call for the addition of a 5,346-square-foot day care center; for the demolition of a day care center; and for the renovation of a day care center.

As of June 1, 2021, this project has been awarded to MBI Builders, LLC but the awarded amount was not available. The start date and completion date is not yet available. The Scope of work is for a new modular classroom building with site-built elements. The work includes site work to establish a building pad, a new access roads, new parking, new paving and new playground as well as a covered walkway to connect existing and new facility. All work is taking place during occupancy of the existing childcare facility. Bids will be received for Contract Type - Single prime. All proposals shall be lump sum. Justification of any approvals will be made available to the public in writing no later than seven (7) days prior to the bid date The pre-bid meeting will be divided into two periods. 1. Preferred Alternates Period: receive project-related questions and to address preferred brand alternates. 2. Project Information period: Receive information about the project and site for prospective bidders. Areas of work will be pointed out. This is also an open meeting for presentation of performance standards for owner preferred brand alternates. In accordance with GS133-3, Specifications may list one or more preferred brands as an alternate to the base bid in limited circumstances. Specifications containing preferred brand alternate under this section must identify the performance standards that support the preference. Performance standards for the preference must be approved in advance by the owner in an open meeting. Any alternate approved by the owner shall be approved only where (i) the preferred alternate will provide cost savings, maintain or improve the functioning of any process or system affected by the preferred item or items, or both, and (ii) a justification identifying these criteria is made available in writing to the public.. In accordance with GS133-3 and SCO procedures the following Owner preferred brand items are being considered as Alternates by the owner for this project: Owner Preferred Hardware indicated in Alternate ALT-6: Sargent 8200 Series, Panic Hardware: Von Duprin 99 series, Closers: Sargent 281, Card Reader hardware by Alarmlock, Networx, Architect Series; Owner Preferred Fire Alarm: Simplex
