Phase 1 construction is expected to start in the Fall of 2021, with a completion set for Spring 2022. Phase 2 construction will begin in the Spring of 2022, with a completion set for Fall 2023. Derita Branch is located in northeast Charlotte and is a tributary creek of Little Sugar Creek. There are currently approximately 16,000 LF of 15 to 8 inch gravity sewer tributary to the 27 inch Little Sugar Creek Interceptor that follows the creek. Derita Branch sewer starts just south of 36th Street at Little Sugar Creek in the NoDa area and then crosses North Tryon Street then through the Derita Community Park and across West Craighead Road and through the Sugar Creek Community Park and then across I-85 and ending at North Graham Street and West Sugar Creek Road. Portions of this line were replaced and lined in 2000 and 2012. This line has been identified as having capacity issues due to current and future growth in the basin and infiltration and inflow issues. This project requires additional SSES work to further identify the issues and project future flows and then survey, design, permitting and easement acquisition to build the long term improvements needed for this basin. Project is included City of Charlotte FY 2021-2025 CIP. MBE Goal 10%: May be satisfied by an entity that qualifies as a Minority Business Enterprise under N.C. Gen. Stat. 143-128, and that has been certified as a Historically Underutilized Business by the State of North Carolina, and furthermore has an ethnic designation of either African American, Hispanic, or Native American with a significant business presence in the Charlotte Combined Statistical Area. WSBE Goal 10%: May be satisfied by an entity that is certified by the City of Charlotte under Part E of the CBI Policy as meeting all of the requirements for SBE certification and/or WBE registration. Aggregate MWSBE Goal (Project Goal) 20%: The total work performed by MBEs, WBEs, or SBEs in the aggregate for this Project.
