Demolition, site work, paving and new construction of a bridge / tunnel in Phoenix, Arizona. Completed plans call for the construction of a bridge / tunnel; for paving for a bridge / tunnel; and for the demolition of a bridge / tunnel.
As of October 20, 2020, the project has been substantially completed. The City of Phoenix is seeking a qualified Construction Manager at Risk (CMAR) to provide preconstruction services and complete construction services with the City for construction of the 24th Street and Grand Canal Bridge Replacement project. The selected CMAR will work as a team with the design engineer and City staff to ensure an efficient design approach for the project. The 24th Street and Grand Canal Bridge is located South of Thomas Road. The 24th Street Grand Canal Bridge is a location specific project. The purpose of the project is to replace the existing 24th Street Grand Canal Bridge No. 9313 which is identified as structurally deficient with a sufficiency rating of 37.00. The bridge is listed in the current Bridge Program 20 Year Plan as a structure designated for replacement. The existing structure is a two-span cast-in-place concrete slab bridge supported on a wall pier at the mid-point across the canal. The span lengths are approximately 22 feet each with an overall bridge length of approximately 45 feet. The out-to-out bridge width is 76 feet 9 inches, with a 64-foot clear roadway, and a 6 foot 9-inch sidewalk along the west side of the bridge, and a 6-foot-wide sidewalk along the east side. The existing substructure is founded on spread footings. The bridge was constructed in 1940 and widened in 1961. A Small Business Enterprise (SBE) goal will be established prior to start of construction. Only firms whose physical business is located within Maricopa County are eligible to meet the SBE subcontracting goal, which will be set prior to construction of this project. The final goal will be based on SBE subcontractor availability.
