Demolition, site work, renovation and addition to an educational facility in Scarborough, Ontario. Completed plans call for the addition of a 127,000-square-foot, five-story above grade, one-story below grade educational facility; educational facility; and for the renovation of a 20,000-square-foot educational facility.

Expansion of existing A Block Building on the campus. The proposed six-storey institutional building will connect to the existing three-storey building. The proposed addition consists of a total of 12,338 sq.m of gross floor area and will be comprised of a mixture of student classrooms and administrative offices. A total of 31 bicycle parking spaces are proposed. No new vehicular parking is proposed. The building is envisioned to be a mass timber building housing administrative services, academic programming space for our School of Engineering Technology programs, as well as support areas such public, social, and food services; and an Indigenous Commons area. Additionally, the new building will accommodate part of the projected 20 percent growth of student population. The expansion will be connected to the existing A Block building on several levels to provide easy access between the two buildings. Due to its location within the campus, proximity to the external indigenous commons and ravine spaces, and the College's commitment to Truth and Reconciliation with the indigenous peoples of Canada, the space is to reflect indigenous values and principles. Centennial College intends to implement the design of a mass timber building to allow for widespread use of wood while ensuring the core requirement for the use of space requiring flexible academic delivery is maintained and preserved. The College furthermore wishes to create an effective sustainability strategy to reduce the consumption of energy, aiming to achieve a minimum LEED Gold Standard and a Net Zero, or possibly Net Positive, building. The project will not only be the new face to the existing A Block building, but it will also act as the new gateway to the Progress Campus; its design is to "Raise the Bar" and be a facilitator to the future development of the Progress West Campus. TIMELINE: Construction is well underway. *Project roles have been corrected / added. *Nordic Structures was awarded as the mass timber design / assist subcontractor.
