Over time roots from trees growing above this drainage pipe have intruded into the drainage system and blocked the flow of water, in some sections collapsing the pipe. Because the pipe is corrugated metal, roots cannot be cut out, nor is the existing pipe salvageable. The project will encompass removing the trees over the pipe and replacing the drainage system with reinforced concrete pipe, which should yield a 50+ lifespan.
