As of November 6, 2024, it is not known if this project is still on hold. Information regarding a design team or a general contractor is not yet available. A timeline for construction has not been determined. To plan, design construct and equip for the Upgrade to the Shiprock Wastewater Treatment Plant, on the Navajo Nation in Shiprock, San Juan County, New Mexico. The project will be used for planning and design purposes the Navajo Chapter surrounding Shiprock and will analyze the present and future wastewater demands for the region. The project will leverage Navajo Nation Sihasin construction funds. The plan will develop alternatives and cost estimates to upgrade the wastewater plant. The study is needed to address the future growth expected from the Navajo-Gallup Water Supply Project (NGWSP). The project will also describe the regional wastewater need and prioritization of needs (Health, Sanitation, Security, System Operation & Maintenance and Growth). The archaeological and environmental studies are completed. Purposed structures and equipment for the upgrade will be determined during the planning and design of the project. The Navajo Nation Water Management Branch will own, and update the plan and design with the assistance of Navajo Tribal Utility Authority. The Navajo Nation will be the fiscal agent. Project is included New Mexico Department of Finance and Administration Tribal L-R FY 2020-2024 CIP. *Project information has been obtained through a public capital improvement plan (CIP). A CIP is a financial schedule for short- and long-range projects which is updated regularly. Information listed in the CIP often evolves based on funding availability and the project details, including timeline and value, are subject to change.
