Demolition, site work, renovation and addition to a mixed-use development in Barrington, Illinois. Conceptual plans call for the addition of a educational facility; for the renovation of a educational facility; and for site work for a educational facility.
At its Dec. 18 meeting, the Board of Education approved placing a $185 million referendum question on the April 2, 2019 general election ballot. Taxpayers will be asked to vote whether to reinvest in our schools and have Barrington 220 issue bonds for $185 million to improve facilities across the district. The Board’s decision comes after a two year effort - Blueprint 220, which included many community engagement sessions and the development of a master facility plan, to determine a path that allows the district to continue keeping students safe, preparing students to be successful after graduation and maintaining the infrastructure of its aging facilities. The bonds would be issued to support the following projects: - Safety and security upgrades at all schools - Modernized and improved classrooms in all schools - Kitchen and cafeteria renovations at all schools - Elimination of mobile classrooms at BMS-Station, BMS-Prairie and Grove Avenue Elementary - New 800 seat fine arts center/auditorium at Barrington High School - Additional parking and improved campus circulation at Barrington High School - Improved PE/Wellness/Athletic facilities at Barrington High School - Renovation of Library at Barrington High School - Renovation of Student Services spaces (counseling, attendance, health services, dean’s office) at Barrington High School - Addition of sensory/therapy rooms at all elementary schools to support students with special needs - Parking lot expansions at Countryside, Grove, Lines and North Barrington Elementary Schools The bond referendum was voted down on April 2, 2019.
