Renovation of a detention facility in Cooperstown, New York. Completed plans call for the renovation of a detention facility.
As of April 22,2019 project is expected to begin 1st week of May and be completed 181 calendar days from the start date. The work will be done as a multi- prime contract to include General Construction work, Plumbing work, Mechanical work, Electrical Work, to provide renovation to the (4) Dormitory Rooms and Guard Corridor in the Otsego County Jail located at 172 County Highway 33 W, in Cooperstown, New York. The work includes removals and replacement of existing exterior windows and removal of interior elements for the construction and repair of the dormitory rooms and toilet/shower areas and provide ADA upgrades to (2) of the (4) toilet/shower areas. This will work will also incorporate plumbing, mechanical and electrical work. Additional mechanical work for the area will remove and replace the existing roof top mechanical units with new units. The foregoing is a general outline of work only and shall not be construed as a complete description of the work to be performed under the contract. SUPPLEMENTAL BID INFORMATION Bids shall be prepared as set forth in "Instructions to Bidders", enclosed in a sealed envelope bearing on its face the name and address of the Bidder and the title of the Work to which the bid enclosed relates. Each Bidder shall deposit with its bid security in an amount not less than five percent (5%) of the base bid in the form and subject to the conditions provided in the Instructions to Bidders. No Bidder may withdraw his bid within forty-five (45) days after the actual bid opening. A non-collusive bidding certificate shall be included on each bid. This is a prevailing wage rate job. Bidders should be aware of the new legislation regarding osha 10-hour construction safety and health course provision effective on july 18, 2008, requiring all laborers, workers and mechanics working on the site, be certified as having successfully completed the osha 10-hour construction safety and health course. (See full Article in Wage Rate Schedule included in the contract documents.) The successful Bidder will be required to furnish and pay for a satisfactory Performance Bond and Labor and Material Payment Bond in accordance with the INSTRUCTIONS TO BIDDERS within (10) ten calendar days after notification of the bid acceptance. In the event that the Performance Bond is not received within (10) ten calendar days, the bidder shall forfeit to the County the security deposited with the bid as liquidated damages. The Onondago and Otsego County reserves the right to waive any and all informalities in or to reject any or all bids. The Onondago and Otsego County further reserves its right to disqualify Bidders for any material failure to comply with the "Instructions to Bidders" and "Supplementary Instructions to Bidders."
