Asbestos abatement and renovation of a medical facility in Elgin, Illinois. Completed plans call for the renovation of a 36,009-square-foot, two-story above grade medical facility.

The Power House (BR050) is a 36,009 square foot, 2-story building established in 1900. The scope of work provides for removing and replacing gas-fired boilers. This project includes funding for the abatement of asbestos-containing materials. This project is being bid for the following contracts: General Contruction, Electrical Construction and Asbestos Abatement. The MBE goal for this contract is 18 percent of the amount of the contract awarded by CDB. The WBE goal for this contract is 5 percent of the amount of the contract awarded by CDB. Project consists of demolition of a 40,000 Pounds per hour stream, water tube steam boiler. Replacement boiler shall be 1200 boiler horsepower packaged fire tube steam boiler. Work associated with boiler replacement shall include steam piping, boiler blowdown piping, boiler feed piping, natural gas piping, fuel oil #2 piping and other associated systems as shown on the Drawings. Electrical work consists of installation of power distribution and emergency generator to support boiler power requirements and necessary demolition of electrical distribution to boiler systems indicated to be demolished.
